The source of said shriek is tossing some charred pieces of . . . something out the door '-' . . . ]

It's just a rock. There's no point in lying about it anymore.

[shakes the rock once and the outside of it appears to shed off and fall away, leaving a perfectly smooth orb. tosses it to her]

I wasn't setting it on fire, that was the accidental part.

I don't do magic. I have the ability to reject or accept whatever I wish, so I rejected the part that wasn't what you're holding there.

Because it's just something I do or don't do, I've never thought of it that way. It used to be as simple as breathing, but this place has made me much weaker.

Magic takes a lot of different forms, it's probably not magic to you or your world but it would count as magic to another.
