What: Making his arrows more awesome.

[Wander is sitting in the halls, whistling a very somber tune while he uses a rock to sharpen some of his arrow heads. He looks more than a little worn after dealing with a giant spider earlier today but he's amazingly enough not injured!

You also caught him in a somewhat good mood!]

I know! I mean -- I have never done it though. I was just making it clear what I meant -- which was not that!

[Well only once or twice but that kind of thing is taboo back home and he is wired to feel shame for it because they weren't married!]

Ah, I have always had this problem. I would go in the forest and sit in the trees to sleep instead.

In the trees, huh? That actually sounds rather nice.

It is. The sounds of nature would lull me to sleep. I miss it.

It's been a while, but my partner and I would often sleep outside when we were younger... we met in a cave, and lived there a long time. We couldn't quite get enough of the sky, after living like that.

You met in a cave? Were you two lost in there?

Not exactly. Each of us--and hundreds of others--were taken there by the gods of that world. We were told that if we could make it through that place, we'd be granted a wish and be sent back home.

...So the gods used you, then. Being here must be...it must be difficult for you.

Used us, lied to us, fed on us, and left us to be consumed by their dying planet.

It's not what I would have chosen, for my destination.

How long were you there?

I spent nearly six months there. He was there much longer... though at the end, even a short time was too long.

...Did having him there help, at least? I - I mean, I'm sure it did not make everything all better...but...it helped, right?

*nods*

It did. Even at the worst times, having him there to support me, and being able to support him, it meant a lot.

That is good then, at least.

[Still frowning, though.]

And you two managed to get out together, right? And live normally?

Fairly normally, yes... it took us some work for a relationship like ours to be acceptable in my world, but with some help we were able to succeed.

Help?

Some of my friends were... in a position of influence, I guess you could say. They were able to help sway perceptions to show that there wasn't anything wrong with a relationship between two men.

People thought it was wrong? But...love is love!

[Though Wander's not sure how his people would take it, he likes to think it would not be a problem. He's a romantic like that.]

Some thought that it was improper... but you're right. Love is love, and we were able to show them that.

[Improper? Wander does not comprehend how that can be improper.]

At least you made them see, then. Love...love is beautiful no matter who is involved.

Ah... that's very true. And fortunately, more saw it that way than the other.

I miss him so much. It's like part of me was left behind when I was brought here.
