Considering what you were saying before hand, no, I don't think I have.

'Sense of entitlement' were your words, I believe. And yet, I wonder how you would have handled the situations if you were in my place.

Offered me a chance to learn what I was interested in without being involved in whatever experiments you decide to stick your fingers into? Let me go on my way without prohibiting me from learning what I wanted unless it was for you? Been a little less explicit about the fact that low numbers is all that's keeping you from helping yourself to the good little puppets?

Or even just avoided confirming that your kind is petty and vindictive when it comes to even minor slights. Any of those might have been a good start.

First off, I am not slicing up living people without there being a medical reason, for their own sake. Such as organ failure. And I certainly wouldn't slice anyone up without their life being at risk unless they volunteered without coercion.

However, I realized that even if I said that, you wouldn't have believed me, would you? So I gave you something you might believe. Such as there is no real gain in me doing it.

The fact is, sometimes science is advanced in that way. That does not mean that's the only way to get advancements. And that's hardly my first option.

As for the rest of it... [A cold chuckle.] Oh, how much you miss.

Let me give you a hypothetical situation. Do not say 'I wouldn't do that,' for some parts of it, as I'm sure some you wouldn't, that's why it's hypothetical.

You meet someone you've never met before. At first, they're clearly hostile, but you ignore it well enough. But then they hear that, oh, you're a magic user. And suddenly they're all, but outright declaring you a monster to your face.

And, despite that, they ask for your help. Now, why would you want to help them? They were rude and clearly see you as some despicable creature, most humans wouldn't even give that the person the time of day. Yet you decide to help, but when it's questionable why you would help at all, why for free? So you give a small, easy to do price, something that can help you help people you really do want to help.

And that the person takes your help...then promptly gives the price you asked for to someone else for no other reason than because they do not like you. Despite you helping them.

Tell me, then, would you think that's fair? Tell me, do you think that if instead of you, it was someone who was what the person accused them of being, that person would really be happy with the results?

Fine. Let me put it another way for you, since evidently you're not as all-seeing as one might expect.

Let's say you're working on something. Something important to you, that you've been trying to do for a long time. You're interrupted just before you've completed it, taken to a place where you're stripped of most of your powers and all knowledge of the world around you, and told that you're going to do what the ones that brought you there want you to do.

You go along with it, because there's not much choice, but the work is hard, and people get hurt doing work like that, so even though you want no dealings with the ones that brought you, you have to ask them for certain necessities like food and first aid supplies. You would rather manage your own food, but you can't. You would rather make your own medicine, but you can't do that, either. Through a convenient coincidence, everything requires some sort of intervention to make it tolerable.

But that isn't all. You discover that the one that manages medicine and first aid supplies is like- [Falters a beat. Almost said "that other one."] -like something else you've seen before. It's nothing you want anything to do with, and you plan on avoiding it and doing what you can on your own- but then you're told that you can't do that, either. No matter what, you'll be serving its interests.

So what do you do? Let the laundry list of forbidden things keep rising... or find a way around it?

[And her tone is frigid.] I am not that psychotic daughter and father. What have I done to prove I'm like them? I can't deny dissection is part of advancement, that's how surgery was invented. All you do is focus on one small aspect of science and ignore all else. All the good comes from science, but even one of my other domains. I am also responsibility!

Imagine having all the people you're responsible for die out without you being able to save them!

"Meant to" doesn't make a lot of difference to me. If you're the god of responsibility, next time exercise a little foresight.

Foresight doesn't do much good when abnormal circumstances come into play. One does not have the 'foresight' to expect that them leaving late for work would result in them being hit by a meteorite. Dead means dead, that is the norm.

I still want to make my point clear.

The stipulations I gave you? The reason I gave them to you, and only you, is because of how you acted. Had you not treated me like I am a monster waiting to feast, I would not have given them to you. Even continuing in how you acted before you knew I was a science god would have spared you the stipulations.

And the punishment was for the same reason. Because your actions? Were foolish. Those sort of actions will get you in trouble with other people, not just gods. Did it make you unhappy that happened? Yes. That's what punishments are. If you act rudely and go out of your way to spite people, it will get you in trouble.

That does not mean, however, I will turn you away in the future. Even if you continue your bad attitude, but more spite will get you another punishment.

Don't worry. You won't have to trouble yourself over whether or not to turn me away in the future.

As you have pointed out, there is a need for cooperation. But you should know a touch more civility goes a lot farther than treating someone like they're a monster.

I can list five for you, off the top of my head.

Then my domain. It's irresponsible to make oaths you do not intend to keep.

And it's irresponsible to leave someone with a fear like that when it will never come to pass.
