I mean it. I would have done something really foolish.

It's something I've seen before... hell, it's something I've done before, Wander. It's why I wanted to protect you.

I just...forget sometimes. That my actions no longer only affect just myself.

For a while. After father died.

[he still had Mono, but her father wouldn't let him see her as often as he did before his father passed away]

She died giving birth to me.

I'm very sorry.

There is no reason to be.

I lost my mother when I was very young. My father left, before that. Everyone's experience is different, so I can't truly say I understand, but I have an idea, at least. And that's why I'm sorry.

[frowning. what a horrible thing to have in common with someone.]

I know nothing about my mother. As far as I am concerned, she is a stranger to me. But father...[looong pause] I was only fifteen.

[pausing again to clear his throat.]

How...old were you? When you lost her?

Only five years old. Alphonse was a year younger.

[he can't imagine dealing with something like that at such a young age. his mother he didn't know, and his father -- while it was incredibly difficult -- he was fifteen at least. and he didn't have a younger sibling to look after, either.

why is loosing loved ones so common? :(]

Granny took care of us... our neighbor, she and her granddaughter were always like family to us, and more after that. But we missed her so much. I'd hoped to see her again, too, after...

It was. We were too young to really handle it well... we made a mistake, that made things worse. It's part of what I fixed, with my time in Sabra La Tau.

You mean the wish that was offered to you?

[mistake, offered a chance to fix said mistake by gods; well that just sounds familiar.]

What...kind of a mistake?

Mm. The larger part of it was to save hundreds of thousands of people, but with the wish I was able to fix what Al and I did... and what Izumi, and Roy did as well.

We all tried to bring someone back.
