[It's a kind of overcast today. Lucky it hasn't actually rained yet!]

[And there's this lady, waiting in the Common Area, watching the clouds rather impassively. Or maybe slightly annoyed/worried, depending how well you can read linefaces. There are two cases at her feet. And there is a white board at her side.]

['LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR WEATHER MONITORING STATION SET UP' written in bold letters. 'Yes, you will receive payment for your work' written in smaller text under it.]

[You have been given a bag of equipment (instruction manual included), a small case, and a map with a compass. The compass will point you where you need to go, but always good to be prepared.]

[You will be heading towards the foothills across the river for equipment set up.]

Oh hey, I guess we're headed toward the fruit trees!

[You can continue on to the river without incident! Not that there's an incident at the river, but you do have to cross it.]

Don't suppose we can just set up the things here.

[Looking up and down along the banks to see if there's anywhere that looks like a good crossing point]

If we can set it up before then we can take our time eating... Um... The compass is pointing us across the river though.

I don't swim.

[but she's trying to get a sense of how wide and deep the river is; she can earthbend bridges]

[There's a section nearby that isn't too deep.]

[Took his shoes off and had started to carefully wade in up to his knees but.. yeah he's not actually sure where he's headed isn't actually deep...]

Maybe there's somewhere it gets narrower and I could swim you across...]

I can sense earth. The riverbed is higher there, which means the water is lower.

OOh, that's a cool power! [OK, heading over to where she pointed]

[It is indeed shallower water! Though in the middle, it is getting up along Kengo's neck even on his toes if he's trying to stand in the way, but it should be a short enough section to get across safely if you're careful.]

[which means Toph is probably having to cling to Kengo's back]

[She can sit on his shoulders and keep the equipment and his clothes from getting wet. He wavers in the current a little bit since it's pretty strong.]

We're almost there! [Sounds a little out of breath but they should be fine]

[Just don't fall over in the current. Go go go~]

[She can feel the water moving back down to her feet rather than being up to her thighs]

[And finally, you manage to make it across the river! Hopefully without slipping in the muddy bank after you're out, but the river has been conquered.]

I hate water.

Maybe there'll be a better way back. It's still pretty cold for this kinda thing. [Shaking off water and tossing his jacket back on at least.]

Maybe I can build a bridge or something. Or damn the river...

It's a lot of water to block off, so a bridge would probably be easier. Well, let's just keep going for now, we can figure it out on the way back!
