[It's a kind of overcast today. Lucky it hasn't actually rained yet!]

[And there's this lady, waiting in the Common Area, watching the clouds rather impassively. Or maybe slightly annoyed/worried, depending how well you can read linefaces. There are two cases at her feet. And there is a white board at her side.]

['LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR WEATHER MONITORING STATION SET UP' written in bold letters. 'Yes, you will receive payment for your work' written in smaller text under it.]

[Activating his gauntlets once they're near Toph]

We should at least try to get them out of the nest if they're attacking!

They do not seem frightened. But what about us?

[Trying to reach for creatures' minds. '-']

[Is what Rai is getting.]

[And now the large creatures are bursting out of the ground, halfway between the nest and the outer wall. They pull themselves out of the hole, growling loudly. They're the size of large bears. Mostly covered in scales, with large claws, but they don't appear to have neither eyes or ears.]

Sweet.

[nope, she's not bothered by giant scale-moles]

They look a bit like the badgermoles back home. Except with scales.

[Fsdst, weird kid. Rai uses MIND CONTROL to make evil bear things kneel.

Spoiler: he is pretty exhausted by now and bear things are BIG. '-']

[As a note, however those things know their surroundings is by a sort of touch sense. Scales are major sense to know where things are, sort of touch/air flow type deal.]

[For a few moments, the creatures stutter in their movements. But then there's a SURGE of instinctual impulses, DANGER PROTECT STRANGER ATTACK DANGER DANGER DANGER!!!]

[And then they're charging for the group, claws lashing out.]

[Oh damn, stepping away, fast '-']

We are in their territory. They sense like her.

[Tilts his head at Toph.]

[she'll put her head up to answer]

So let them chase us off?

[Well, YOU'RE different. But they're pretty fast for their size and one isn't afraid to dive into the earth after Toph.]

[The other is whipping around to hit Rai with it's tail.]

[I have no problem leading one away by tunneling]

[Let's see if it gets discouraged, I hit the surface, or I hit the powercap first]

[Toph was supremely cool. '-'

But damnit.

Attempting to dodge tail and jumping after Toph AND abomination bear.

How fast can you dig a hole? :/]

[Bear thing is not so easy to discourage, so will be pursuing Toph through the tunnels.]

[The one still on the surface looks between Rai and Kengo for a few brief moments.]

[But then it's lunging for Kengo.]

Hey buddy, are you their predator or their guardian??

[Little fox things by the tunnel entrance move to the side, out of grabbing range of you, and leaving enough space for the bear thing to pass.]

[Bear thing is keeping pace pretty well. Really fast for it's size and it just ROARS in response, and swiping at his back.]

[Following the bear thing that is following Toth like a boss. If it tries to bite her, he is totally going to pull its tail. '-']

[DIVES AND ROLLS ASIDE]

[really, Toph is having fun making her way back towards the surface, away from the forest. She's not even begrudging the bear-thing for chasing her off, much]

Someone is just a little-over protective...

[One is still chasing Toph, though whenever Rai might try to grab it, because it's certainly trying to get to Toph, it's tail manages to move out of the way. Almost like it knows Rai is trying to grab even though he's behind. (Because it does because it's senses are like that.)]

[Depending how fast she can dig, the surface isn't that far. Can even come up on the hill side of the trees.]

[The beast after Kengo hits the ground where Kengo was and then quickly turns, but hesitates, a few seconds. There are the little creatures here, too close to Kengo, and they're trying to dash out of the way before it starts pouncing again.]

[You're not allowed to have special senses, bear. '-'

And he hopes Toth is talking about the creature...]

[Keeping his guard up, moving backwards toward the sound of the rain outside while trying to talk in a soothing voice]

Hhheey big guy, it's okay... I'm not here to eat anyone, see...?
