What: Becca's bringing around flower arrangements!

[Becca's making trips to all the apartments. Since people are in and out of the shrine room, she knocks on one of the bedroom doors in apartment A. Otherwise, she knocks on the hallway door of every apartment. Even apartment E.]

That's the thing about drawings...you can fix the things that fate fucked up.

[Tentatively starts sketching a warm family scene with him, his wife, and son, but she doesn't finish it before showing it to him, in case he doesn't want to see.]

[He just watches, at this point -- not encouraging her, but not stopping her.]

[She adds more details, omitting the scars on his face.]

[...lowering his hood for her]

[She finishes up the drawing, then starts a second one, his wife and son playing together and looking happy. Surrounding them and watching over them is his ghostly presence. Their descendent stands at the side, her back to the scene, smiling faintly.]

[He frowns, and his hands tighten on his robes. That one hits closer to some nerves~]

[She does a third drawing of the two women and the boy, all together, leaving him out of it. Then she collects all of her drawings and hands them over.]

[Accepting them with a nod.]

They're good drawings. You have my gratitude.

I'm glad I could share something. You need things to call your own around here...it makes making it home a little easier.

[She's definitely accepted this place as 'home' for herself, and wants other people to do the same.]

Why would you make this place your home?

I've known for a long time that I was going to die. I made preparations for it, planned around it, made my peace with it. I miss my brother, but...he's ready to face the world without me. Going back would just mess with his head.

Where I came from was...an awful place. I had no friends, I had no one to talk to. If I said the wrong thing, my little brother would've been taken away from me! And...and...other stuff I...don't wanna talk about.

There's none of that here. And I have friends...I even have a boyfriend. This place is my home, I like it so much better than where I came from.

Perhaps it's presumptuous of me, but I would like to make a suggestion. This place will inevitably change. If you like it, you should both learn and draw strength from your past so it can develop in a direction that you can remain comfortable with.

...How do you mean?

[She's interested, but confused.]

Remember what was wrong about your homeworld. Keep in mind what you like here. Nurture what you love, and when adversity rises, remember what you don't want here to steel yourself against it.

Love is powerful, but you're going to have to be strong enough to protect it, too.

[She takes a deep breath and nods firmly. She'd protected Alex, and now she'll protect her home here.]

Yeah...This place is going to be great. I'll make sure of it.

We'll see. There's still a great deal of danger to cut out of your home.

Yeah. Everyone's making progress, though!

Some progress, at least.

We'll get it done. This place'll be a beautiful fortress, and we'll start carving out a life here. We're already making our homes beautiful.

You think the structure is like a fortress?

Or a castle. I like the idea of a castle, but the others don't think it's likely.

At this point there's no telling what style the previous civilization favored.
