[Becca's making trips to all the apartments. Since people are in and out of the shrine room, she knocks on one of the bedroom doors in apartment A. Otherwise, she knocks on the hallway door of every apartment. Even apartment E.]

This really isn't a good time to ask me about specific details. But I haven't been hearing anything about you, Scowl.

I spent the whole night squirming and whimpering again.

Look, Scowl, I just gave up a year of my life to Leedin. I do want what's right -- more than that, I want you two to stop fighting. But I can't remember if someone said maybe or when or what from...however long ago it was again.

I'll admit that we shouldn't have tried to convince you to let us stay. I'm sorry. And Becca, you should be moving on from that.

. . . Even if I did say maybe—and I didn't—she's got no right saying we're crazy and dangerous! Whether you remember or not, you can tell I'm nothing like that right now, can't you? And even she has to be able to admit Allen and Link and Zel aren't like that!

Tell her that too. She needs to understand she isn't as nice as she thinks she's been, and she won't listen to me because she thinks I don't have the fucking right to be angry about any of it. She thinks she's been some saint through all of this. You're a decent person she'll listen to, so make her understand.

You guys are dangerous. Your sister hit me across the face for saying we need to work together and wouldn't even promise not to do it again.

It's only fair to warn the new people that they can get hit for talking to you guys. And guess what? That's crazy.

But even so. You complained so much, I stopped warning the new people, even though it means they're in danger of getting hit for being nice to you guys. And you won't even apologise for what you did!

And stopping is a lie since you said to me maybe half an hour ago that you'd "stop talking shit about us" if I apologized for that. Your exact words! How is that anything like stopping? Last, I did apologize for scaring you that time. That's the only thing I needed to apologize for! I'm not going to apologize for not wanting to deal with you after that or for getting mad over the underhanded rumor spreading you pulled!

Becca, please don't spread rumors about people. He's got a point.

At the same time, Scowl, just because you apologized before doesn't actually help anything if you keep acting the way you did before.

Why can't you both just give a little ground?

[She lowers her head a little bit, but nods obediently.]

Fine. But he can't keep being mean to me! I've asked him like five times to be nice to me and he won't and won't apologise for being mean.

And if you guys weren't partially responsible for her hitting me, you'd've tried to stop her or told her she was out of line!

[DOESN'T EVEN HEAR BECCA totally focused on Kidale again. His voice is becoming strained near the end, clearly entering into the limits of his stress]

There's no way you are ever going to get me to slap on a fucking fake smile and play nice with someone who's treated me the way she has.

Scowl, I acknowledged your point and asked her not to spread rumors. How much further was I supposed to go to appease you?

He's mean to everybody and then wonders why everybody says he's mean. It's not worth it, Kidale. If he keeps acting like that, it'll be more than me saying he's mean and unreasonable, and I've given him plenty of chances to be nice.

[. . . turns back to them, still ignoring Becca]

You could have not acted like I was wrong for getting mad about what she did. When is it okay for someone to get mad? Should I have waited until people wouldn't deal with us over it? Until someone decided to treat me like shit because of it? Maybe until they decided I had to be the liar and took a swing at me?

I did it right. I didn't touch her. I even stopped arguing with her to come talk to you instead because I know I've got a fucking temper, so tell me. Where in that did I act badly? I did better. Than. Before. And you made out like I haven't been trying at all.

How am I supposed to know what either of you did or didn't do when I wasn't around?

You were wrong. Even your boyfriend thinks so.

You should work on teaching her the difference between "mean" and "dangerous and crazy." . . . I got just one more thing to say to her.

[glances at Becca again though] This is the last time I'm gonna bother saying this to you. I don't like you, and I don't fucking have to like you. I don't have to be nice to people I don't like either. But don't you forget that I've said plenty of times, let's just leave each other alone. If you keep coming up to me when you know goddamn well I don't like you, then it's your own fault.

And for the record, I'm not gonna take any quests that mean I have to deal with every apartment, because that's how much I don't fucking want to deal with some people and I can make a fucking choice about what jobs I agree to do for those guys. I'm trying not to deal with you. You need to give up trying to force me into fake nice bullshit and try to do the same.
