I'm a little surprised that everyone's still so young, especially when I remember so many of them as older. What happened to you, Ling? In my timeline, you were emperor.

Unlike me and the Chang house's princess, not all of the other clans' heirs decided to travel in order to get their offering. We got ambushed as soon as we got back to Xing.

I entrusted the Philospher's Stone and the Yao Clan's future to May Chang. We took care of the assassins, but [clenching his fists here] Ran Fan and I didn't make it.

I hope she met with better success, then. In my timeline, you protected her house, hopefully the reverse is true in yours.

She promised. People from Xing never break their promises, remember? She definitely made it.

But I'm glad to know that at least in your timeline I didn't fail.

Not at all, all three of you made it back, and changed things for the better.

I like the sound of that.

It was a good world. Between your people and mine, we were able to help bring a solid peace to everyone.

Even so, this version of me has people to beg for forgiveness to. Knowing some other me made it is comforting, but if I could get away with just that, that'd be cheap.

Death isn't a thing that can always be helped, and rarely something that needs an apology.

Can I really say that after losing both Fu and Ran Fan? Greed, too.

It's fine. It would be disgraceful for me not to accept my death, and I've already had some sense beaten into me today. So I'm all right. But I didn't become Emperor, and I'm not going to turn my eyes away on that.

Anyway, I only arrived this morning, but I can tell you a few things about this place if you need.

I've gotten a bit of a rundown, but I'd be glad for any insight you can offer, too.

I'm not as quick or agile as I was when I was younger, but I didn't stop practicing either. I haven't been in a real fight in ages, but if there's a need, I should be okay.

Haven't you tried charming one of the ladies into helping you out? They look like they can hold their own.

I haven't had the time to charm anyone just yet. But I did find a place to stay in and a partner to fight with!
