I really like it here. I'd rather this was my home than where I came from.

A little bit. But I know he's going to be all right without me.

I did. And Child Services is gonna investigate my death and realise our home isn't safe, so they'll take him away to a safer home and put him with a foster family that'll feed him regularly. And I left my notebooks to him, so he'll have the lotto numbers for his eighteenth birthday--he'll be rich when he's a grown up and everything.

You sound very certain.

Uhh...no? I taught myself to fish out stuff I wanted to see. Nobody thinks seers are real where I'm from, so I can't tell anybody.

That's very impressive. My own training is in object-reading, not visions, or I'd offer to help you. Most with training in visionary arcana tend to have hunches and dreams, but I'm certainly not practiced in using them.

That and... were I back home, I wouldn't be allowed to teach a foreigner. I suppose that doesn't matter here, though.

If I touch an object and focus, I can see its past. And the occasional hunch about the future -- nothing specific or useful.

It'd be nice to be able to see the past...like the past about this place... But all I can see is the future. It gets really specific, too.

I saw so many people die.

Events that have strong emotional impact tend to be the easiest to see.

Is that why? ...I think I've seen everything important for the next five hundred years...

Five hundred years... that's... that's incredible range. With a talent like that, I'm surprised you didn't have nobles or whoever runs your government trying to provide for your every need to find out your visions.

People don't believe it's real. If I said anything, I'd get thrown in the loony bin. Or if somebody did believe me, I'd get turned into a lab rat. My world isn't very nice to people that aren't normal.

I've heard things like that about Kern -- the country to the north of where I grew up. Though that was more because the Lich King didn't tolerate any source of power outside of his control.

[Granted, Melisan's country only allowed magic to be used by the (all-male) priesthood and healers, so that's not much better. Not that he's saying that to strangers.]

That would be really helpful... My powers make me pass out at random, so it's really dangerous for me.
