WINTER WONDERLAND

When: Day 104, late afternoon and probably until Day 105 at some point.
Where: 3rd Floor, Common Area
What: Because Albi wanted to be Jack Frost BECAUSE CHRISTMAS

[There will be a bit of a drop in the temperature of the third floor today. Nothing too bad until you enter the Common Area, where you will find a good percentage of it is, in fact, covered in snow. There's mounds of it all over and more than enough to play and frolic in. There's even one mound big enough to sled down. And there's an area over that that's just pure ice and there some ice skates along the edge.]

[Around the edge of of the mini winter wonderland are tables with coats and other such winter wear.]

((OOC: BTW, winter clothes will vanish when the snow does.))

I don't like shoes. If I wear shoes, I can't tell what's going on.

Contact with earth, stone or metal. I can manage okay with a wood floor or something like that between me and the ground, but I don't like it...

If I may make a suggestion. In case there is ice that's not so avoidable in the future, or if you wish to enjoy the snow here?

There is a concept of a steel toed boot. It'd be an easy modification to extend the metal along the base. Then replace the bottom layer completely with stone. It might still be cold, but if you made the top insulated enough, it'd probably avoid anything like frostbite.

If you can work with thick soles, it could also probably go down enough to make contact with the ground in most situations with snow.

I can deal with cold stone.

Can you make something like that?

I...could. Though I wouldn't be the easiest.

These clothes are temporary, it's harder to make them permanent. I suppose the question is do you just want them for today?

Unless you're making this a regular thing.

When winter was less deadly, many people started to enjoy the season. Those who lived in such climates had to find enjoyment somehow. [Picking up a pair of boots, looking at them thoughtfully.]

Back home, Katara and Sokka and Aang did all that stuff. Of course, they all grew up in cold places like at the South Pole and on top of mountains.

There is a lot of fun to be had when the danger's done. My sister loves to point out how much people like to make art out of it.

[Freezing the hard plastic soles and breaking them off.]

People do that with sand too.

Sand always seemed a bit more finicky. Too dry or too wet and it crumbles.

[Frowning at the boot.] Stone will be harder...metal should be thin...

Do you need help with the stone?

It's not something I work with a lot. The metal is thin, it just needs to be enough to seal off the cold, but the stone is more difficult.

I could help, if you want. I mean, since I'm an earthbender and all, and they're my shoes.

[Earthbender. No idea what that means, but...perhaps that's why she can see through it.]
