[THERE'S A LOUD THUNK as some dude appears, gasping for air, eyes darting around, clearly bewildered. Once he's certain he can breathe, he quickly gets to his feet, sword drawn, scanning the shrine room, but not posed to attack]

What is this. . .hello? Anyone! I am the Commander of the Nidellia Defense Corps, it'd do you good to answer me!

((introoo for Kharg. He is half human half drakyr (dragon deimos!1) but doesn't look it at all, aside from some pointy ears 8> Only around for a bit but will pick up all the things ETA okay fine HE ALSO HAS RED EYES and the exact same birthmark as Darc on his right shoulder 8V))

Well, since yesterday it's been more dangerous to go outside apparently. Not that we usually go because it's dangerous in general.

Are there forests outside? If monsters are prowling about, it's wise to stay close to civilization.

Forests and plenty of large animals. We've gotten lots of warnings about being careful.

That's good. Still, I wouldn't mind helping you out. I wouldn't recommend playing outside of the town, but if you need to venture outwards, I'll be your guide.

We aren't giving up, but there's plenty to do in the meantime. And we don't need to go outside to play; people go outside to gather things and hunt.

No, but Senri knows a little. And we figured a few things out while we were traveling before, even if the animals are different.

Who's this Senri? I can't say I'm an expert, but I can give you a few pointers. At your age, I was already wielding a sword. Do you have any weapons?

He's the oldest, and tallest. I have a staff, but that isn't useful for hunting. We used to sharpen sticks for fishing, but we haven't tried it much here. Cooro has a small axe, and Senri has a hunting knife.

You can do a lot with even a small weapon, so don't undersell yourself. Maybe you all can try trapping things. You look like a smart enough kid.

Maybe...not for the bigger animals, though.

What do you consider bigger here? Turtles? Dancing snails?

Big enough to eat me in one bite. Maybe even you.

Something that dangerous. . .? And everyone just lets them roam free?

People do try to take care of them, but there are a lot of them, and other dangerous animals.

Do they outnumber the people here? Some nature I know we have to live with, but something that dangerous. . .[frowns]

Now I'm even more determined to help. I have to get home, but I can't just stand by and let a village be devoured by wild animals!
