*Ran has been very busy working on preparations for the second floor mess. Exhaustively busy, even. So she's going to take a brief moment and do something to relax.

Which is why there's a foxy lady with nine tails sitting somewhere on the third floor in front of a grid drawn on the floor with chalk. Depending on when you approach her, it will either be a 19x19 grid with black and white pebbles beside her, or an 8x8 one, with slightly shapelier black and white stones next to her.

She smiles up at you as you approach.* Ah. Would you like to play a game?

Still. There were no signs on the fifth floor—no hint of the shadows of doubt that cling to her heart, no wisps of that familiar, kindred magic. So outside it is, to where the jungle muffles everything, to where there's undoubtedly creatures that can peer through the illusions masking his presence.

It's easier to think of it as a mission. A goal to be completed. Thoughts of still bodies and the scent of funeral pyres can wait for another time.]

[ The only truly unfortunate thing is that the forest floor is so far below-- or, well, not nearly so far now that the water has risen so much, if you could call the rippling surface the "floor."

But there doesn't seem to be much in this direction. Perhaps you're better off going towards the right, towards the mess of vines and small(relatively, at least) spiders wandering over the wide trunk of that tree? ]
