Are we calling it a day for now...?
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed smiling broadly (An eternity that glows so brightly)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-16 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless you really want another try. I've had enough practice for the day.

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't want to tire you out— why, you might start getting back pains!
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed looking defiant (Brimming with defiance)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, I kept my training and stamina up just fine, even after I started teaching.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2215955)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'd be surprised if you hadn't! Or if you really managed to keep yourself out of trouble for so many years.
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed smiling confusedly (Have you ever heard of a wish sandwich?)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
...Some trouble, anyway. There was always something new coming up, no matter how hard I tried to stay out of it. Though the last few years were pretty quiet, at least.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2216063)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[laughing]

You know, given that trouble always seems to catch up with you anyway— shouldn't you start thinking maybe you're the problem?
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed smiling or looking slightly perplexed (Just an old man)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, now, isn't that a little harsh?

Besides, it wasn't ever the same level of trouble again like it was around the Promised Day.

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'd hope so. That's not a level of trouble that should repeat itself.
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed glancing to the side (I hope you see the sun)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's really not. And thankfully it never did... things were a lot more peaceful all around after that, even with the ongoing border fights and troubles.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2303272)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Peaceful times, huh? Sounds pretty good.
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed smiling confusedly (Have you ever heard of a wish sandwich?)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Once we calmed things down in the aftermath of the mess left over from the homunculi.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2215966)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Greed mentioned you said he had his own body.
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed glancing to the side (I hope you see the sun)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
He did. But he was just a regular human, like the rest of us. So were Pride and their father. He didn't take it very well at all.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2269066)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
...Really? So even their father survived?
nometal_alchemist: (Let me take you there)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods*

Which of them survived in your timeline?
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2302907)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I know you spared Pride. Everyone else was taken out.
nometal_alchemist: (All those memories we can't touch)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
All of them, huh...

By the time I was taken to Sabra, most of them had already been killed, but I used my wish to spare the three that were still alive when I left. I didn't want to see any more death. Not after that day, and not after that place.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2543735)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not quite as noble-hearted as you are. Aside from Greed, I think they got what was coming for them. It was self-defense, after all.
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed looking serious or slightly sad (Those who would resign their souls)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they did. But Sabra was a world full of death, and I was so tired of it. So tired of watching people I cared about die, and so tired of dying. I didn't want anyone else to have to go through it, whether they deserved it or not. Without their powers, they couldn't do any more damage anyway.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2216212)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
They became humans in your timeline, so it's a different situation, I guess...

I can't say I like the idea of King Bradley living, but the sentiment behind not wanting to see people you care about die anymore... I understand that.
nometal_alchemist: (And the doctrine is soft)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I wasn't exactly heartbroken to find out he'd been killed before I took Messenger's deal. That would've made the work of changing things that much more difficult. Felt sorry for his wife, though.

But I couldn't ask to just save a few, and kill others. Humans, homunculi, Amestrians, Ishvalans, Xingese, it didn't matter. I just wanted all the fighting and killing to stop. There'd been too much.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2303264)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like a very "you" thing to say.
nometal_alchemist: Old Ed smiling or looking slightly perplexed (Just an old man)

[personal profile] nometal_alchemist 2012-04-17 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That cave didn't change me that much.
thankyouverymooch: (pic#2543735)

[personal profile] thankyouverymooch 2012-04-17 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I can't imagine anything changing you— no matter how awful. You are that sort of person, after all.
