To procure food here he would have either do so on someone else's graces or beg the gods for a favor. Otherwise he would be outright saying that his hunger was kept at bay because of your bond. Either way I do not think he would give you a straight answer.

. . . I have never caused him to change himself. If we clash or disagree he chooses to change his course. That is part of what makes him entirely himself.

So basically you've always relied on the fact that he cares for you enough to give you what you want.

I suppose I had not considered that he merely made all his choices because he liked me. Some choices are simply better than others and there are times when he needs counsel.

Then he likes you enough to listen to you. But I'd bet plenty of it is also that he wants to give you what you want.
