Any suggestions? Other than "don't fuck with him you idiot", I mean.

What "tricks" do you have up your sleeve?

My sword has a djinn in it. A djinn of fire.
So it can spit fire and also turn into a seven foot broadsword that can cut through literally anything.

That must be pretty heavy. How fast can you swing something like that?

I'm used to a one-handed short-sword style, but I manage.

You'll need to be faster than that if you want to get the jump on him. He's going to want to place himself as far away from you as possible in the beginning to capitalize on his advantage, too.

As for his preferred method of attack... it's a little unusual, but basically he has the ability to summon a near-infinite number of projectiles from a kind of "hammer space" directly behind him, and he can expand said field for as far as he has space to expand it in. I don't think I need to explain the obvious dangers there.
However if you can manage to somehow withstand a barrage of swords and spears, there are a few weak points to that attack I can think of. The first is that his projectiles only seem to be able to fire in a straight line, so if you had a fast reaction time, one could theoretically be able to read and dodge their path. And since they can only fire in one direction, if you're fast enough you can potentially get out of its' firing range for a few seconds while he has to readjust.
At the end of the day though, he's still Gilgamesh, the legendary King of Heroes, so I wouldn't doubt his skills at close combat either just because he's summoned under the Archer class. Unfortunately I don't have any information on that, though I can direct you to someone who might, if you're interested.

Ah? Who would?
