It's been a long time since I've been capable of much. [and the last time he thought he was, it ended terribly]

...we're in an unfamiliar place, with strange rules and people. It would be silly to trust it without knowing more.

[huffs, reaching over with an arm and pulling him closer]

[shuts his eyes]

[watches him, pensively for a while, before sleeping]

[sleep was nice, just don't mind when he wakes up in the middle of the night and starts crying.]

[waking up, and calmly slips his arms around him]

[chokes slightly, but doesn't resist.]

[doesn't say a word]

[neither does he. just cries quietly until he exhausts himself again, falling back into grey, fretful sleep.]
