Of course they have selfish intentions. The question is how we factor in those intentions.

Do you really need to ask? Even if we don't know what exactly they want us for, that part is obvious.

When should ya ever trust someone off hand? That's the whole point in finding out what they really 'want.'

Exactly. All I'm saying is that it's safe to assume that where we factor into their intentions isn't as highly as they'd like us to believe.

Well, I wouldn't say 'safe to assume.' That implies we're going to be right.

There's no way our well-being is a bigger concern for them than their own selfish interests. Safe to assume.

Ah, that's the mistake. Well, depending.

On personal scale? Yeah, that's a safer bet. But all of us, mass scale? There yer getting into tricky territory with gods.

They need someone yes. But if we all died tomorrow, they'd just get someone else.

I doubt they can do it that much.

Based on their actions. Or rather, the sort of people they're bringing in and the numbers.

I'll grant you the numbers, but that still doesn't make us irreplaceable.

I wouldn't be so sure. Personal level, yes, but mass number?

Their spell work isn't consistent.

Why isn't it? It's not just 'bring in the amount for the space we have.' Sometimes we only get one or two and others we have enough to fill two apartments within a day.

That doesn't mean they could never replace us. We hardly know the criteria they use to pick us, much less what it takes for them to bring us.

I mean we don't know the criteria or what it takes for them to bring us. But what we do know is there has to be some criteria.

This uneven and chaotic bringing in, it means there has to be restrictions. It can't just be we're dead, even in a peaceful world people die everyday. Capabilities aren't even an factor, but they're acting like they have to grab what they can get.

It's not uneven and chaotic, though.

Pick any five people here at random. There's a high chance that at least three of them will have unusual abilities. That's opposed to my original world, where the chances would be that all five of them possessed no abilities at all.

Then take a look at location. There are a great deal more people from the place I traveled to before this than from anywhere else. It can't be a coincidence.

No, it's probably not, but how often do ya think yer kind of place will be?

And what about those people who don't have abilities, why are they here?

I didn't say their method for choosing is perfect. Maybe they made a few mistakes- or maybe they know that they need that kind of person to feed some of the gods.

For the type of magic on this level? That seems unlikely, it's too...haphazard.
