Any empty space is free for the taking. Baths and communal kitchens are on the first floor. Don't make Dellen mad or she'll screw with your water. Watch out on the first and fifth floors, some people got the great idea to let giant flying lizard-dragon things own those spots.

No catch except that you have to catch your own food to use in the kitchen. We all worked our asses off in the beginning to get this stuff.

It's calmed down quite a bit since then.

I bet it's mostly because there are less things prone to eat us inside our own home.
