Who: who indeed
When: Day 1435, morning, later
What:

[ How you guys doing? Feeling good? Happy reunions all around? Lovely dreams?

That's nice. Anyway here's some shit happening this morning:

- A certain dormant shrine (spoiler: the ox skull) has begun spilling fog out the mouth and eyes. Soon a thick layer of haze covers the shrine room floor. Around the shrine, though, it rises like smoke until the skull can barely made out. To those who have been suffering from nic fits, it probably smells real good..

- In the 5th level shrine that was planted for Lupe, a number of her scalywolves have begun to sniff around the ground. What's up with that?

- In other locations, you might feel like SOMEONE IS WATCHING YOU. Also it's possible that the crazy bitey woman is literally standing there staring at you.

- Or maybe you are totally far away from all of these things and want to stand around talking about your dreams? ]

[ Thinks about other possible answers to this clearly sketchy situation. ]

...If it were constructed from scratch, that shouldn't be a problem.

But if someone else was used as a template, isn't that unfair to you?
responsetoregret: (So we'll do it this way...?)

.... [Laughs.] I actually don't mind it.

My program is based off Rin's. It's why we're 'twins.' And why she's the older one.

It means we have some similairities, but it doesn't stop me from developing on my own.
misterious: (You've won; congratulations.)

What if your program was based on someone else, in addition to your twin sister?
responsetoregret: (Uh huh whatever you say)

What would be wrong with that?

It's similar to the dilemma about cloning, but on an even deeper level. Suppose someone had a good friend; the best one they'd ever had in the world, and that person died.

What if they were able to clone that person? They would have the same face and voice, maybe even a few similar mannerisms and quirks, however that clone is still their own person. They may grow to have a similar relationship to the one held with the donor of their DNA, but it will never be exactly the same. To heap that kind of expectation on someone else would be unfair.
responsetoregret: (Hey don't hog it)

Maybe that could be a concern. I'm sure there are people who have made robots to replace deceased loved ones.

But I doubt that's us. We have different appearances and there's a number of us, so that'd be replacing a lot of people. He doesn't show anyone any particular attention. Nothing noticeable anyway. And there's the way he talks about the program...
responsetoregret: (That little light)

He had gone to several companies, to fund the project. A way to give machines a soul. All sorts of companies. If it involved robotics and didn't tie into weapons, he went to them. Crypton had made those voice banks for years, enough to be doing fairly well, but there was always something missing from the programs that people brought to the table. They thought what he made might be it.

I asked him why he had been so determined to get the program going.

He said...that the program was a miracle. If there was a god, it was a divine inspiration and the first robot to ever experience it was an angel.

I asked him where that robot was. He said she had died.

Did he ever say how she died?
responsetoregret: (Walking home)

Hardware wasn't up to the task. It's easy for a company to get that level of tech, not so much for a independent inventor. Soon as the program started, it was running too hot.
