If he hasn't told you yet, I work with Orihara-san and Lavi compiling reports on Thusian events. [ Except it's mostly her doing the work, Lavi having issues/dicking off and Izaya dicking off as well. ]

The goal is to keep everyone in the loop without having to pay the gods for information. Previous reports are available in the Library.

At present, the people brought to Thusia are reliant on the gods for various goods and services, via a barter system.

Gods will accept certain items or acts done in their name as payment.

Not a word I'd use, but they've yet to subject people to games that may result in death.

From their perspective, they put so much effort into bringing people here, it wouldn't make sense. Not that they won't forcibly do harm to the occasional ego. For the most part, they wish to get along well with everyone here; they only arrive when called and provide what's asked of them in exchange for their "pay."

Huh... that actually sounds convenient. So they really expect us to... ah, repopulate this place?

I think they have the population issue handled. Their aim seems to be restoring society to a point where people are no longer reliant on the gods for everyday things.

And then what will they do?

Nothing, perhaps.

Once civilization is reconstructed, the acts needed to keep society functioning would presumably sustain the gods enough to where they only need to be called upon in extreme situations;

Does it? If acts within their domains are what grant them power, doesn't a society where all those things already happen grant them power without having to directly ask for it? It's win-win, Harm-san.

Aha... I see what you mean now. So the way it all works now, they are basically bribing us to do things that will increase their influence, am I correct?

The bribing is fairly mutual.

Though if you're averse to directly acting in the name of the gods on principle [ since that is a thing with Sabra people ], there are public facilities for nearly everything.
