Well, there's an inn, or you can search around and claim an empty "apartment" for yourself. You may also find people who are willing to room with you.

Haha, there isn't any school, but there is a clinic. Even if that wasn't there, there are many kind people that would tend to you. As for food. . .that's a bit trickier. You can get some from the inn, and every now and then it's provided for everyone, but for the most part, people hunt for their meals. Wild food has to be blessed by the spirits of this world, or traded to them for specialties.
