Bulletin & Mingle

Who: Anyone
When: Day 135, afternoon to evening
Where: Level 4, by the bulletin board
What: Anything

[SO, having passed by the board a couple times and not seen anything up about recent forest escapades, Kengo decided to take it upon himself to put up a posting. It goes:

Hey guys!

Be careful if you go hunting in the forest by the lake these days! Whatever attacked the lake a couple nights ago is still kinda there and haunting things and it's really tough to get around! I got lost like all day yesterday even though I was just taking a look. Before I knew it, I couldn't tell which way I went in! Or maybe that's just me? And there are scythe fish mergnomes (or something??) living in the lake! It looks like they come up on land sometimes but they're pretty harmless (and look kind of weird and unappetizing, to be honest).

Anyway, a lot of people were there and they probably know more than me! It just seemed like a good idea to put this up.

Asamura Kengo, Apt MN
]

There. I guess that's good enough? I wonder what else has been happening around here...

((ooc: IC NEWS POST. Feel free to use this post to make your own news announcements, bulletin board postings, project recruitments, or just plain mingling! You can just leave a comment with "[Posting]" in the header if your character would have just left a posting without saying anything. Gods can leave stuff too.

The Permanent IC Bulletin post can be used to duplicate postings for people to check out later if you like.))

I didn't get damaged at all, some guys came to the rescue.

Though I really should get a weapon for next time...

You should! I started out with a knife when I first got here. You can get them from Luna for cheap.
responsetoregret: (Uh huh whatever you say)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-08 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nods.] I've been thinking of a blade. I'm still fast enough that if it's sharp, it could still do the job, and I wouldn't have to worry about running out of ammo.

[personal profile] besomeothername 2013-05-08 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably best if you're gonna go running into danger, yeah.
responsetoregret: (I'm not sure that's...the best idea...)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-08 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't mean to the first time, but considering that, it really would be more prepared for next time I do accidentally...

Sounds like you intend to make a habit of it.
responsetoregret: (It's just kind of exhausting)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-08 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
More like reading a pattern. I don't have the best luck in avoiding strange things.

Especially if I'm gonna keep trying to reach out to Harvester.
besomeothername: († Allen † I'm gonna have to say no)

[personal profile] besomeothername 2013-05-09 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Why would you want to reach out to something that, as far as I can tell, tried to wipe out a species. A perfectly harmless species that was just living in the lake.

Because she could have agency.

But she doesn't believe she does.

Agency to do what?
responsetoregret: (That little light)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-10 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
To decide, to change, to be more then what she was 'made' to be.

She let us walk out of there without harming us. Before that, she hesitated to attack.

If she was made to destroy civilization, why did she do that?

Len, I'm not gonna discourage you from doing that cuz I've done some crazy things myself. I just want you to know that that's probably gonna be a long tough road. And you may not like what you see at the end of it.
responsetoregret: (A little glance)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-10 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
...I know.

But it hits rather close to home and I hate the idea of someone not realizing they have their own heart. That they can be more then what they were made to be.

[personal profile] besomeothername 2013-05-10 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
... Do you feel that way sometimes? Like you need to prove that you're more than just what you were created to do.
responsetoregret: (You're really rather cute)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-10 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)

It's not just the crazy people who call us soulless machines. Scientists and other brilliant people question if the Kokoro program can do what we say it does and if we're not just that good of a programmed personality. That there is a limitation to what we can do, that if we didn't have our structured lives, it'd become apparent how inhuman we really are.

It can wear a person down. To be honest, it was only being pulled here that could be said as 'solid evidence' to the fact we do have a close approximation to a soul.

You care enough to help someone in a similar plight as yourself. Doesn't that answer the question of whether or not you have a soul or a heart or whatever fancy word you want to call it.
responsetoregret: (That little light)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-11 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Robots could be 'programmed' to be helpful and kind.

But I do believe in the Kokoro program. I do most of the time. It was just those times where the words got to me and when I was down. [Or when I'm worried about Certain Incidents.] I believe in what the Master gave us though. The Kokoro Program is a miracle and I do have a soul.

And you're right. Because of that, it's too sad to see someone with such a plight that I can't ignore it.

All those sound like human problems.
responsetoregret: (I'm not sure that's...the best idea...)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-11 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Not sure. Do humans usually worry about if there might be something not legitimate about their soul?

[A bit of a joking tone, but kind of curious. DO HUMANS DO THAT?]
besomeothername: (neutral ✏ But why is all the rum gone?)

[personal profile] besomeothername 2013-05-19 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I can only speak from personal experience, but--- there was a while there when I thought that I was kinda defective. In the heart and feelings area. Actually it's not something that has completely gone away yet.

So yeah, yeah I think some people worry about that just like you.
responsetoregret: (A little glance)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-19 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
...

Well, for the record, pretty sure you've proven you're not defective in your talks with me.

But this soul thing...it really is pretty complicated, huh?
besomeothername: (smile ❀ For smiling's sake :))

[personal profile] besomeothername 2013-05-20 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
I was destined to fail at feelings. It's true.

[Reaches over to hair ruffle Len]

But yeah, if it was simple, we wouldn't worry about things like that, yeah.
responsetoregret: (Well you see...)

[personal profile] responsetoregret 2013-05-23 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think you do too badly.

[ewjaoi certainly able to do that.] Ah, jeeze, always with that...

I guess so. The proof of life is being able to be irrational?
