[It's hard for a god concerned with bringing back civilization not to be restless lately--especially with how things had been progressing--Anima's "celebration" probably didn't put them in a better mood either.

Those gods still interested in pulling in new souls seem to have been having a hard time of it. Generally unused to working together in a large group for consistent periods of time, many gods have wandered off or become indisposed in various ways, and the number of them able or willing to donate their power keeps fluctuating. For a while now it seemed as if they were casting out their lines and coming back with nothing.

Even so, they continue to cast out blindly, but being unable to truly see beyond the borders of their own world's realm, to determine what's going wrong, it's difficult to say if this desperate bid has stopped working...

But today, something a little unexpected happens...]

watches her for a moment, glancing to their hands before giving a faint, stiff nod before leading the way to the door.

it's not long, just across the room where they're standing. and it doesn't take much to open the door.

it's a normal bedroom. one sizable for a couple, but in the bed lay two silent figures, mother and daughter of different timelines... though there are still some signs of the struggle from a few days ago. even Shirou's cleaning skills can't always get the bloodstains out...]

[shirou, meanwhile, has just been hovering quietly, not really knowing what to do. it's a happy moment, but it's also distressing because shirou has no idea where she fits in relation to this woman, or how she's going to feel about shirou even existing. it wouldn't be weird if she resented shirou for being a stranger in the house or for having stolen kiritsugu away from ilya.

she just sort of leans against kiritsugu, nuzzling into his side. just looking for reassurance, mostly. or at least some idea of what she should be doing.]

[Well if Kiritsugu is getting support from Shirou I'm going to. Let go. And kneel at the bedside to stroke my daughter's hair.

That blood isn't being ignored, either, but it wouldn't do to add to any guilt that Kiritsugu is already hurting himself with.]

... both Shirou and she are from a different timeline. Grew up as sisters after the war from what I understand of it.

I'm... I'm Ilya's sister. There was a really big fire when I was young and everyone around me died, but Kiritsugu saved me and adopted me. And then we were on the run for a long time, and after he - [ENDED UP IN KIREI'S BASEMENT NOPE NOPE NOPE CAN'T SAY THAT] - he disappeared, I found Ilya and we lived together.
