[So, a young man in casual clothes with a deep royal-purple kimono draped over his shoulders is loitering around today near the fountain or between the stairs-now-with-elevators and the shrine area, watching people come and go.

Once in a while he'll ask a question, just kinda out loud to whoever in the area is listening, or directly to whoever's passing by.]

Yo~! In the interest of challenging yourself and your beliefs a little, tell me about what you think of being here. Like how you feel about the circumstances of being brought here or living a new life, that sort of thing.

I... simply realized there was another way to resolve my conflicting feelings--the jealousy and the problem of holding so many expectations of you while being unable or unwilling to express them, and thus acting as a burden rather than a support...

I . . . don't really know what to do with those expectations.

But—I don't think I want to be apart from you, either.

[shakes his head] They weren't of much use in any case, so they've been done away with. You may consider it a clean start.

Please consider it a sign that I have not given up.

[shakes his head again] Our last argument was at least a combined effort.

Look, this isn't getting us anywhere.

[Can't help raising his eyebrows a bit at that]

What specifically did you want to accomplish?

I want to talk to you. I want you to talk to me.

[head tilt...] In that case you may wish to be more specific on what you would like to talk about. It does get difficult to talk about talking more, after a certain point.

How do I stop hurting you?

Am I so difficult to understand that your only recourse is to ask?

[another shake of his head] . . . I won't explain anymore, Walker. I think I've tried enough to tell you how, and made enough demands from you; it only twisted things up more. The things that hurt me I've put aside, instead. I would rather be someone you don't have to worry about hurting.

[reaches out to him hesitantly]

[offering his hand, palm up]

If you cannot feel secure in that much when you're near me then I've been doing something wrong.

[squeezes his hand tightly]

Yeah, you know what? Maybe you are. Because you can't just assume I'll feel secure in anything. Or that it's your responsibility to make it so.

[Um...] Forgive me if I thought such an assumption would be incorrect... Particularly after our last conversation, I couldn't help but feel I'd been making myself an obstacle in various ways.
