Draftee Visiting Week Start!

[Throughout the day, residents may notice mysterious smoke signals going up from the dome of the HQ if they're outside: plumes of dense smoke wafting up in a thick trail into the sky. Those alarmed by a potential fire in the lizagon nests will find, however, that nothing seems to be burning when they clamber up onto the dome. Indeed, the smoke that was visible from the ground simply seems to vanish if one goes up there searching for the source (though it may smell like burnt dung and damp wood).

More interesting may be a slow influx throughout the day of rugged, roughed up, possibly smelly people to the HQ, either through the rainforest portal that's open this morning or possibly from out of the mountain-y forests or even out of the tall grasses just north, pulled in by the unmistakable sign of the God that has been watching over, teaching, springing survival-tests on, or just showing up sometimes to be a pest at them.]

Well, I hope I'll be in a position to watch next time. From your description I'm assuming it isn't powered by Essence...?

I think it's all mechanical; no magic involved.

Fascinating. Though it does make me wonder if some sort of hybrid design would be useful to investigate. Physical fuel may be a problem, but we certainly don't lack for wood Essence...well, I suppose it's something to keep in mind. I'm afraid I'm not staying long enough to make a project of it myself.

Well, to be honest, I've lost track myself. It was shortly after Lupe manifested herself, I believe -- otherwise I would have been a good deal more interested in that situation.

It still feels very odd to have a god responsible for the Underworld. I don't suppose you've learned anything more of her?

Not much, I'm afraid.

And it's not exactly safe to ask her, since her position seems to be we all should be dead.

I suppose I should have expected. If she gains power in the same manner as most gods, the more who die, the greater she grows.

[nods] And perhaps the more who think of death as something more than a minor inconvenience.

Precisely. I take it she hasn't solicited active worship, or taken priests?

She hasn't even put up a shrine.

I wonder if it's in the equivalent location in the Underworld...ah, well, no matter. It's certainly a sign she doesn't see the living as worth cultivating.

Unless all she wants us to know about her is that she takes the souls of the dead away. Which... yeah, means she doesn't care if we sacrifice to her.
