[Maybe you have gotten used to the regular hum of the HQ's engines as it flies slowly over a rippling canopy. Maybe you even find their sound soothing as you drift off tonight... Or maybe you don't drift off at all, maybe wherever you are, whatever you were doing, you just find yourself inexplicably sleepy.

Whatever it is, you end up in dreams. Your dreams? Or someone else's? It's hard to say.]

For those of you who have never participated in a dream post, everyone interested in running a character's dream posts a top level comment and people comment to that to be in that character's dream. There are basically no rules about how it works! Be a lucid dreamer, don't be, figure it out halfway through, push and pull between who controls the dream. w/e have fun! If you need an OOC excuse to be asleep you can totally assume Rew's power just made your character unreasonably tired at some point. Solitary dreamers will find ocean waters rising in and drowning out their dreams, but Rew won't be making any appearances in this post.))

it's still fairly quiet and pitch dark. the leaves above you rustle a little.*

*from somewhere nearby, you hear an echo of sinister, yet childlike, laughter*

*well, it is a nightmare after all. the leaves rustle again, in the same direction as the laugh, above and to your left*

*chasing it is such a good idea*

*up you go, the laughter leading the way!

is that moonlight above you?*

*I sure hope so*

*it does seem to be getting lighter the further up you climb. not daylight, by any means; it's definitely closer to cold moonlight. a little further and you just might break through the canopy*

*is putting on a burst of speed*

*you burst through, the silver light giving you a colorless view of the forest canopy.

the voice is there, too, childlike and echoing. "You think you're safe here?"*

Safe is pretty damn relative here.

*"Ah, that's true, that's true. Where are you going to go? Back into the shadows? Or out here in the light?*

serpentine shadows are beginning to rise from the canopy around you, though they're not moving just yet*

I think I'll try to see what will try to kill me here, so I can make an informed decision.

*"You think you can fight back? Against me?" two of the shadows lash out toward you*

[drops down and fires another spirit spell at the speaker]

It's worth a shot. If not, I slink back to the forest.

*"Into the dark, is it?"

a sharp shadow, all angles and teeth and eyes, tries to intercept the spell, breaking apart when hit*
