[Sometime around noon, a new bulletin is posted by the fountain. There are a number of open spaces on the sheet of paper (which is very large, and covers up a few out-of-date bulletins) and markers left for anyone who wants to add contact information or additional notes or ideas. A slightly hung over but otherwise satisfied youkai is lounging on the edge of the fountain, yawning.

She waves her hand, and adds, as an afterthought:]

In Albinia's name, and such.

((OOC: Once again, this document is completely open for anyone to edit, so if you want your character to add to it, you can just write directly on it. Besides that, you can use this as a plain old mingle, use it to discuss the possibility of another move, or use it to bother Yukari, as you wish. ))

All right. To start from the beginning, this whole world used to be populated by humans, just like the outside world connected to Gensokyo. But there was a conflict between ancient gods of nature and the upstart gods of civilization. Almost like that which you see between Kanako and Suwako, you see? Except this particular conflict ended in apocalypse, rather than a peaceful resolution.

They went full on stupid and killed off all their worshipers, making them weak. Right?

Precisely. So the ones who liked humans got together, and decided that they were going to try again. Of course, none of them were powerful enough to create new humans from whole cloth anymore. But they did have the power to take souls from elsewhere - the souls of the dead, in particular. Thus our presence here.

Having people volunteer to, say, be a Shrine Maiden, would be a bonus to them, huh? They're probably lacking experienced ones.

It's different from the work you're used to. These gods are weakened, and they have no great temples in need of maintenance. If you want to contract to any given deity, you'll have to do more than pray. Most of them require tasks done in their name and domain. So the god of servitude, Selyir, will ask as sacrifice that you serve another in his name. Zhen Ji, the rebel god, asks that you destroy property.

Does any of them have something easy?

Yes. But you must understand that as it is at home, certain gods are good for certain things, and certain things are good for certain gods. In this particular instance, we need the help of Eizon, the god of electricity and technology, Selyir, the god of shadows, and Albinia, goddess of sciences. I have dedicated informing the public to Albinia, which should cover that. And Selyir's part will be popular, I think. But Eizon is not as well liked, for some reason, and so I think it will be best to provide for him as much as we can.

Electricity and technology? Is that the kind of stuff Rinnosuke babbles about? Wouldn't this guy be a great god? I want a portable heater thing...

Precisely. Technology has all sorts of good uses. It keeps a room cool in the summer and warm in the winter, provides light, keeps drinks cold for weeks and weeks, provides endless entertainment and convenience... Get in good with him early, and your portable heaters and electric fans and refrigerators will be cheaper in the future. Even weakened gods can play favorites.

Great. I've already made my choice. I don't know what a lot of that stuff is but it sounds great. Plus, if it's cheaper...

Right. Well, at any rate, for one example of technology's convenience, we have this directory here. [Gesturing to the touchscreen directory in the shrine room, where we have now arrived! And then leading you over to it.] It has here the names of all the gods, as you can see. And when you touch each name [here she touches "Eizon"] it will produce for you a list of what the god desires, and what the god will give in return.

Well, cleaning and organizing are technically part of your duties as a shrine maiden, although I can't recall ever seeing any evidence that these things are ever done. But you like punishing people and making them do what you want, right?
