Who: anyone
When: Day 85, nightfall (forward-dated)
Where: Level 5
What: The Long Night
[if you head upstairs this evening, following the directions of the message on the noticeboard or just as a happenstance, the sun's last rays of light disappear from the sky and as darkness begins to fall, you will find that not all light has fled from the topmost level of headquarters. down amongst the edges of the floor that still have nature clinging to it, a space has been cleared, and is now stacked high with logs and vines, blazing with a bonfire. the glass dome has not quite been covered over here, so the smoke escapes into the night without hindrance.
Noric is there as well, in his full Ophiuchus clothing, throwing one last piece of wood into the fire.]
((OOC: The Long Night event! This will be open to mingle for about an hour or so before Noric formally opens it, and then there will be a thread for personal speakings-into-the-void.))
ETA: formal opening | thread for personal words

But she doesn't move much, save to bring a shaky hand up to cup his cheek, shift enough to rest her head properly on his shoulder. Her voice is still a little wavering when she finally speaks up]
Thank you . . .

For what?
no subject
Letting me be her for long enough.

[kisses his cheek again, before settling back down] But I can still thank you.

. . . my mother was a very proper Elven woman. Much of what I still follow and believe in is from her. [a faint smile] She didn't much like using magic, so I do not know what she saw in my father. She used to tell him that he was worse than her kind, using magic for every little thing. But despite how proper she was, and how involved she was in the Elven heritage, she still left her home and family behind to be with him.
[a pause, and the smile grows] My father was the opposite. He was from the capital, and a well-known mage in his time. I do not know much of his family, but he met my mother on a trip and . . . [l-laughs] He told me he wooed her away because he had fallen in love the moment he saw her.

He sounds like quite the charmer, actually.

They were young when they had me. My mother liked to remind me of all the suffering she went through when she was carrying me, too, especially when I misbehaved. And she would just know, regardless if she witnessed it or not. [wrinkles her nose]
She wanted me to be a proper lady as well, but my father was the one who let me do what I wished. I cannot remember a day when my mother would not scold me for not wearing a dress, and my father laughing it off and telling her I would grow out of it. A phase, he called it.
no subject
A long phase, I'd say. Though they are fetching on you, when you chose... still it seems more you to see you as you prefer... more comfortable? I think that's it.

. . . [bites her lip] I wear your shirts despite how loud they are, yes?

. . . speaking of, though.
[shifts off the bed to go steal a shirt :x]

[changing into one of your less loud ones]

So you say.

You are very warm, dearest.

I thought you already charmed me.

There is no one here who could ever charm me away from you, my beloved prince.
