If he just figured this out, he is quite dense. That was obvious by the fact that he was willing to barter with the gods for your revival.

It's been obvious for a while now, but he has a particular way of looking at the world, where nothing has meaning until he acknowledges it. But then, his acknowledgement is quite iron clad. It disrupts his world a bit to have people of value in it.

But people of value aren't a new concept to him. His green haired friend is proof of that. Unless that also does not go acknowledge.
