Yes, yes, you're right. Of course, just because there's that initial inkling of like doesn't mean anything long term. Although what's sincere? Has anyone ever made a scale for that? A sincerity scale? Sinscale?

Even if they did, I think that sort of thing would vary from person to person.

In a sense. You have to "learn" about the victim to discover what may have lead to his death, don't you? Sometimes it isn't a murder; sometimes it's an accident, or it was a suicide. You need to learn everything you can to really determine what happened.

As for the thief . . . [frowns] He died before I could catch him.
