(no subject)

Who: Hellions, their back-up, onlookers
When: Day 65, Night
Where: The balcony and the jungle
What: Demolition

[Some flood, huh! Some people may still be rushing around getting their valuables moved up to the drier fourth level, but some of Zhen Ji's hellions have begun to mobilize. A table has been drug out from somewhere and completely covered in a pile of explosives. Haphazardly made chains of fairy lights have been readied for use in the dark jungle night. The hellions themselves are nearby at first, discussing the plan of attack with each other and any members of back-up teams they may have brought. As they come to their conclusions, several head right into the trees with a load of explosives while other remain to guard the explosives or watch for the threat of approaching wildlife.]

[[Hellions are gonna be bringing down trees! I'll be putting up a comment header for pre-explosion discussion and one for explosions/harassing people keeping guard so it should hopefully be easy to jump in where you like.]]

Of particular interest to you? There have been several interesting attempts at forming societies, laws and other cohesive groups, particularly in more fairweather time. Excellent examples of normal human needs and drives.

We had, as you have likely noticed, discovered that we were on the third floor, and that two remained above us, and by assumption, two below. The gods took large tribute through assigned quests in order to make large scale improvements, both towards necessity and towards convenience. Which while nice, is a bit disappointing since it robs the need to do it ourselves.

Still, with what limited resources we have...

[He shakes his head.]

We had several new gods return and set up shop, if you will. Some more practical for the situation and some not. Their incarnation of death has also returned, making things a bit more difficult and a bit more worrisome.

And then, one of our unspoken opponents arrived, a god of nature, preceded by rain, followed by snakes and flooding.

He demanded the masses kneel and worship him. I imagine you can guess how well that went, both by the nature of those present and the current state of the building.

Albinia decided to come clean and the story is no longer that we are merely fighting a mindless force of very aggressive nature (I'm honestly not sure how they expected us to actually believe that, but there you have it.) but that at the height of humanity, civilization was at its greatest point, and the gods of it flourished.

Nature gods, feeling left out and weakened, decided to make humans fear and worship them by a series of natural disasters. Which went smashingly from what I understand, literally, and were all set to back off when a third party, claiming to be a nature god, stepped in and simply flooded the earth to uninhabitable levels, despite calls for him to stop on both sides.

Loss of humanity, waters receded, our city folk gods decided a good plan was to nab dead people and give them a sort of spiritual indentured servitude.

And that is the story. Likely not all of it still, but what we are currently being told. They have stated that they don't have enough power to try again if this fails. I've told them that if it seems like that's a lie, I'll attempt to kill both sides of them, whether it's practical to do so or not. Happily, the one I'd taken up seems rather keen on the idea.

[His tone is pleasant, almost chipper throughout. At this point, he pauses, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.]

Several efforts are underway or in planning to coordinate self sufficiency, particularly from the poisonous effects of the environment. Other than that, just typical antics. Who likes who, who killed who. That sort of thing.

Heeeh...

"The one I'd taken up"... considering the threat, that's Zhen Ji, right?

Still, a lot happened in just under a month. But then again, I should be used to that by now.

Though I'm not sure if I believe that all of the humankind here were killed in the disasters. Even with a sun exploding, humanity was able to survive for a time, and considering this was a flood, there are ways for them to avoid such things if they were advanced enough to have brought that sort of wrath from the gods.

Quite so. It's been an interesting thing, at the very least.

We have very little idea of what they were actually capable of, technology wise, however, with the investments of the gods here, you'd think they'd manage. Oh, a floating city or somesuch.

Not to mention the fact that oops, everyone died in a clash between the gods, and the only ones who seem to be sad about this are the civilization gods.

As I've said, there are parts missing still.

Probably one of the weaker gods. In fact, a lot of those useless gods would be weak, with survival being the key here. Luxury isn't something we can afford.

If anything, if these people were advanced enough, I would assume a number of them were atheistic. Possibly the ones who were still religious enough to worship them--or at least acknowledge them--were the ones who died in this place.

Then again, we hardly know how interactive the gods were with their subjects prior to the dead being pulled in.

I would say it is hard to deny what is obvious, such as how we see things, but my own history has some marvels of the human mind and philosophy within it.

Still, a further viewpoint would explain how it came to such a state. Being caught nearly dead does that.

I'm sure you can sympathize.

[waves a hand] In any case, everyone at least seems to have a healthy sense of self-preservation. That's already one thing in our favor.
