[It’s during that overlap of dusk and dawn when the sound starts: a low treble growl, closer to a husky hissing that begins to filter in through the walls of the HQ. No matter where you are, you will find yourself stirring to the sudden feeling of being alone, in the dark, uncertain and very afraid. Throughout the hallways floors are little puddles of water here and there, as if something had been tracking in the pouring rain outside. Do you investigate?

The sound moves as if it is traveling through the walls themselves (which is a silly idea…right?) and if you’re willing to follow it, seems to be heading towards the baths…

[Ah hissing... he remembers last night too clearly to not go to the first place he suspects. Leo stops at the door to the bath without stepping in. It's darker and more foreboding than he realized before, but and he's read the full directory now and has an idea what all gods can do, so he begins with a formal bow.]

[Inside, what lights usually lining the walls are dimmed down as if the coverings are dirty. There are some faint splosh splash sounds, like things are dropping into the pool, which appears almost milky.]

[eyes narrow, and for a moment they shift to the ceiling, distance might not matter in this case]

[You can make out briefly with your eyes, thousands of snakes are crawling and slithering across the ceiling in an serpentine party, before a darkness you can not penetrate settles over them again.]

[ah that's frustrating, how to get an answer..., he's not going closer]

[there's a humming sound now, like a deep throated hissing from many throats]

Closer [their bodies sliding seems to say]

[definitely not something he's sure he wants to do, but moves to comply anyway, stepping half way across the room, weary of the ceiling and walls, and especially of the pool]

[The mood in the room seems to grow dangerous and there's the agitated movement on the floors and walls around him that seem to indicate the question hit a sore point.]

[That oppressive aura-! Leo lowers to the floor, his head dipping, but his eyes look toward the water. He considers himself a horrible servant, but he knows how to bow properly. He's curious why, but he won't press. None of the snakes around seem familiar even though he's read through books on snakes before. ]

... What is your domain and name, so I can pay tribute to you properly?

[The name is carried on in a rising chorus of serpent hisses, as all the tens of thousands of snakes in the room chime their admiration.

[carefully repeats, head raising to look; perhaps he has domain over reptiles..?] S'vx..

[A splash from the water sounds like amusement.]

[At first there is nothing...and then the water near you begins to froth and something starts to rise...dripping wet, gleaming in blue, gold, greens, and magnificent. The form looks like a man...man shape...with long hair but something shimmering under the dripping wet water. Scales line his body from just below his neck to past his knees. The scales glimmer greenish blue but when he moves changes to brown. A fat snake is draped across his naked shoulders.]

[Has no idea what this means... so he stands still, watching and waiting to see if the question is answered..]

You ssssshould remain bowing in the presence of your god.

[The voice is low and smooth, like velvet cloth wrapped around an steel blade.]

[lowers again to kneeling on a single knee]

I would have left if you didn't have any requests. You don't want to be ignored, that much I can tell, and I'm not ignoring you. I wasn't yesterday, either, and it took part of the night to recover with Dellen's healing, so I don't care to go through the same again.

Oh wasss that you? My children were playing. They have not had company in many many yearssss.

[HUH- he seems vaguely cordial as long as you're lower. Leo is curious about the snakes, their species, and if they're all as sentient as their lord - it seems like it.]

Are they going to play like that often now?

I wouldn't be able to play like that very long. I'm sure not how quickly this body can heal while drowning. [in all serious, he's frowning as he thinks about it, and finally lowers to sitting on the floor of the bath completely]

Do all of your snakes.. children... have names?

Of courssse. Namesss are not a human invention. Your kind is ignorant to everything that doessss not revolve around them.

[The god is resting comfortably on a huge blue green scaled coil that's peeping out of the water.]

[Why is that comforting? Why is being called the same as everyone else comforting?]
