[ As night falls over HQ, those on the third floor might notice things getting a little more... colorful. Maybe it's the light reflecting off all the water around or maybe your eyes are just playing tricks with you. Or maybe, just maybe, there are hundreds of small, colorful frogs jumping out of the stairway to the second floor and out into the hallways due to all of that rising water in the second floor, leaping wildly all over any surface they can find. ]

[ Just maybe. ]

[ And they're not all that's making their way across the third floor... ]

(( OOC: As a reminder! These are pilot frogs running loose and coming in skin contact with any of these frogs causes temporary disorientation and nausea. Come in contact with too many for too long and you're liable to pass out (or worse) from the severity of it. Fun times. ))

So far, these gods are different from the ones a fair amount of us are used to. it doesn't seem like they need us to maintain the safety of the world, so they probably do just want us to make civilization again.

And there are some worlds...people would never want to go back to. So even when a way is found, not everyone will want to leave. Not to mention 'a way' could take a long while.

[into his hand] I want to go home.

But if that's not possible, I want to make a home here with Nezumi and be happy.

But if we don't know if it's possible, how can I do either?

[Silent for a few moments.]

[Thinks.] Maybe a bit, but we're also building a civilization on an alien world. Chances are, things won't go according to plan all the time.

I meant -- planning to try to go back. Vs settling in to stay. That's the difference between moving with the intent to move.

Sorry, I've been in such a mood since I got here. I promise I'm not normally this much of a downer.

[Shakes his head.] It's fine. It's actually something a lot of people would think about. Don't worry about bringing up serious concerns with me.

But the thing is, and this is the most important part, is the circumstances of leaving. You won't be rushed to leave. The only reason there will be a rush is because everything is going badly and it's either jump or sink with the ship. But if there is a possibility of staying here, then you'll have time to consider.

And I'll be honest, most likely the way 'out' will come from someone's friends finding us. Any way out found in Thusia will probably start totally by accident and then just grow out of control. Either way, it'll just be a headache only focusing on an out and the only thing that can be done is to wait and see.

Until that point...you should live as happiest as you can. It's better to focus on the things you can achieve now anyway. And it sounds like settling is the best way for you to be happy now.

Mm... thanks. It's just hard because I've always known what I've wanted. Even when that stopped being what was happening, I knew where I wanted to be? Only then I died. In a way, it's just easier to think you have to start fresh... that you can never go back there.

If that's what you need, then you should do that. What's important is doing what's best for you to keep moving forward.

It's still hard not to fixate on 'place', I guess. Ah, I know I'm being absurd. Never mind it, never mind...

It's just so visceral to me. When I think of happiness, home, I think of that crowded room, the smell of books, the pressing heat of our oil can heater.

Yes. Without a doubt. I'd go anywhere if it was with him.

Place...places are important. They are. But that person, who makes that feeling? Just remind yourself of that.

I know, it's not easy, to let go of places, but when you can just focus on that person, it can make any sort of disruptions a lot easier.

[Pause.] If that helps at all. It's just a suggestion.

No... you're right. There's a difference between trying to -- really look at what I want right now and just...nostalgia, I guess.

Yeah. Memories are nice...but the present can be even better.
