What: A new face . . .

[There is somebody new in the Shrine Room this morning. He's wearing a battered grey cloak with the hood half pulled up over his hair, though he shakes it back after a few moments to take a look around. His posture is tense, expression closed-off and wary.]

Where does it come from?

Most of it is brought in by the people here. There are plenty that hunt more than they eat, or don't like cooking... When I arrived there was a ton of meat just sitting in the freezer.

Plenty to kill out there. The gods will take most of the organs and bones, but meat is usually only good for cooking stuff. They bring it here because they don't need it. I cook it and leave it for whoever wants it.

Who else questions a free meal that carefully? Well, you don't have to eat. Someone else will.

If no one's mentioned it, everything out there is poisonous until you get a god to purify it. Don't let your mice eat it either. I don't know if it would affect animals or not, but since they aren't local....

[runs a fingertip over Cravat's head]

We rely on the gods.

So far it isn't much different than relying on a shopping center.

I'd say there's a significant difference.

I'm not saying there can't be some problems somewhere down the line, just I haven't really run into them yet. Having things purified is cheap, and while they obviously have an agenda it seems to line up pretty well with what people in this situation would do naturally.

The gods will revive people more than once, but probably only if someone likes you enough to pay the price.
