[It's early enough that most of the inhabitants of the common room right now are the dead batmonkey corpses. One person, though, is standing with one hand pressed to the glass, heedless of the blood stains on it.]

Wrong. This world is wrong ... I can't feel it here. There's nothing...

[Oh goody he's talking to himself in disturbing ways. Engage?]

[venting some hurt and frustration on this poor monkey corpse.]

[I can feel that, you know. Sighing, he gets up and goes to his room to rest.]

[when he hears the door click shut, he stops, bracing his hands on the bench and shaking slightly.

but he keeps his emotions as internal as he knows how.]

[meanwhile, I'm going to dampen and suppress mine]

[... wipes his eyes after a few moments, and gets back to work on skinning and cleaning the carcass.]

[time to sleep or something.]

[calming down somewhat through the process of cooking. he dumps large chunks of meat into the pot with some vegetables to make a stew. other pieces he gets onto a tray, coating it with cooking oil before sliding it into the oven proper.

he lays the skins out somewhere to dry after washing the blood from them, and separates all the useful trading pieces, like claws, lungs, hearts, and etcetera.

he doesn't rush.]

[containers up most of the stew, ladling up two bowls of it and putting them on the coffee table. checks on the oven, which is still cooking the rest of the meat.

straightens up, looking at the bedroom door for a while.

...then goes up to the attic.]

[...]

[comes back down, after a while, and sets a bottle on the table, along with two glasses.

then he waits, dozing on the couch. it's been a few hours by now... nearly lunchtime.]

[coming out after a while, awkwardly]

[sort of asleep, leaning on the armrest.]

[shakes him gently]

Noric?

[wakes up suddenly, blinking fast]

--hhwhat?

[smiles]

Slept well?

Ah-- I only just shut my eyes. I think.

What were you doing?

Cooking. There are a lot of those dead monkeys around, it's pointless to let them go to waste.

[gestures to the bowls on the table, a bit awkward.]

Lunch. If you want.

... Eat with me.

[smiles slightly]

I did wait, you know.

I know.

[hands Xavier his bowl, then takes his own.]

[taking it]

I'm sorry.

[slowly]

I realise you were trying to help... but I'm not all right with doing something like that.
