I didn't do anything, actually. I stared him down. Ah, in hindsight, I then said something really cruel... Kanda's violent, but there's a difference between punching someone and actually swinging a sword at them. He didn't have to hold back with his fists, but using mugen meant relying on someone to block it so he didn't kill them. When I didn't move, he couldn't hit me. I said it was because he didn't look like a murderer, he looked so surprised... And then I started telling him off for attacking me in the first place and he looked surprised in an entirely different way.

Haaa... The scolding did give him something to react to, though, we got into a fight. He managed to recover a bit, or at least distract himself, I think. I had no idea what was going through his head at the time.

Things just... Developed naturally from there. We clashed a few more times, but things... Things were pretty bad, they always were. Whenever I was sad, or scared, and I felt alone with nowhere to go... Kanda was there. He never asked me any questions, he never pushed me, but he stayed with me. It was really important to me, to have someone like that, in that place... [This is not going to help your feelings]
