or maybe you just are nosy or maybe you are pinged by swearing. which has happened with frequency about every fifteen minutes, and with vitriol.

but there's some girl sitting in an apartment up here. There's a pile of rocks next to her and a crazy magic circle on the ground in front of her with a rock shaped like a lopsided bowl in the middle. A lopsided bowl with a giant crack down the middle :T

There's also a notebook with some stuff written in it off to the side as well as some food on a plate ... study munchies '-' ]

Exactly.

Do you happen to have any experience with linked spells or wards? I think we have a few workable designs, but it would be nice to know if we're missing something blatant.

Not much with protective spells. A bit with linking spells together.

The design that seems most promising is to have a flare of sorts and a passive component embedded in some medium that can be carried, and an active component in a central location...oh, say, the common room downstairs. Activating the flare spell would break the link and trigger an alert. Probably another flare -- something visible.

Something audible in the common room might also be good. I wouldn't take something loud into nature, but it could mean that people who don't see the flare directly don't mistake it for lightning from outside or something.
