This is a book about the gods I'm working on.

[It has portraits of each of the gods, and little blurbs about their personalities, anything you'd find on the shrine pages except what they offer and what offerings they take. Those aren't listed.]

[She digs out two more books--one on the local wildlife, one on plants, and holds them out as well.]

This is what I do when I'm bored. I'm the cook around here.

--Ah. Speaking of. Everything's poisonous. Even the water. You have to get it blessed by a god. Or you can show up at the kitchen at mealtimes; I cook for everyone.

So, where do residents typically stay? [ Jobs? Or anything marginally reflecting what he knew at all would be nice. ]

[She moves away, but her body language is inviting--she wants him to follow, because he's about to get a tour.]

There are large apartments on this floor--this is the third floor, by the way, anything below is flooded. You'll have to share if you live in one of those. It's about four or six people to an apartment, some have more, some are still looking for roommates. You'll have to ask around.

Next floor up, there are smaller apartments. You could have one to yourself if there are any left, but you'll have to clear it yourself. Apartments don't come with any furnishings, and I do mean any. You'll have to go to Miss Dellen to get a toilet and a shower, even, though there's a public bathroom in apartment W.

The building is overgrown with plants. And the wildlife that lives in those plants can be quite dangerous. Lizagons are as big as ponies, and their bites are poisonous.

[She holds out her book on the local wildlife, which is the 'Fauna' section of this page.]

You'll have to kill off anything in the room, then clear the plants. No burning unless you've got something set up with Tare [one of the gods] to vent the smoke--it's toxic because of the poison in the plants.

Everything is poisonous. Everything. Even the water. You'll get sick, you might die. The animals are poisonous. And I don't mean like venomous, which lizagons are, I mean even if you cook the meat well, you'll get sick. Everything is poisonous. Until you have it blessed by Lady Dellen. The only exception is tap water.

That's why you can't burn anything that hasn't been blessed, too. The smoke's poisonous, you'll die if you breathe it. Tare does ventilation, though, so if you make a deal with him* to vent the smoke as it burns, you'll be okay.
