Where: coming from the 4th floor
What: TRIUMPHANT RETURN

[Look who's back from their nature exploration! Aside from both obviously being worn out and the bandage on Wander's leg, he and Edward seem to otherwise be unharmed.]

[There is a lot of nature stuck to Wander's sword, which he is kind of looking at now.]

Wander: Well, um, that was a good hunt.

Edward: It's too bad we don't have anything to show for it.

That doesn't mean it won't end up becoming mandatory.

I'm holding out hope that it won't come to that.

But admittedly I'd rather try to find whatever peace I can, while I'm here, rather than driving myself mad with the possibilities.

I don't think I'll find much of that for myself here... but if I can at least avoid the worst troubles until they finally give us a way to move on, that will be enough.

No, I think you could. Not the same kind, or to the same extent, but little things that pile up and make it bearable.

A sort of quiet, maybe. But there's too many little things that aren't right to hope for a true peace.

"Wrong" and "not right" aren't always the same thing. And sometimes "wrong" isn't necessarily "different."

... I hope you can eventually find a new purpose.

I think the best I can hope for here is to support the people in this apartment, as much as I can, until all of us reach our proper rest.

That's as much as I've found... protecting the people important to me. Some days are better than others, but most of the time, it's enough.

From what I've heard, you've collected quite a few of them into your group. You have your work cut out for you.

It's true. But even more than that, with Maria here... Could I really even have a choice...?

Of course not. And it's fortunate she has someone here who could take her in and look after her.

She would have been alright, I think. She's strong.

It's just that I can't trust anyone else to do it.

She's still lucky to have you. To be able to be taken care of, without having to find her own way. Whether you think she could manage it on her own or not, in a place like this, it's better this way for her.

[Shaking his head tiredly]

Anyway...what about you? I spoke to Ling, he mentioned how many people from your world are here now...

...My world, but not my timeline. Not the ones I was able to save.

But they're still family, some of them, and I'll protect them.

Ling is a friend, but not exactly family. The same for his retainer. And while the Greed in my timeline became a friend, this one's much different from the one I got to know.

Ah... yeah, I think I can understand that.

The others... we've accepted things are different. But we're able to remain as family in spite of that.
