Where: 4th floor fountain, moving on to the wild wild outdoors
What: Adventure Time

[ it’s an early early morning, the first hint of dawn enough to illuminate the complete lack of stormclouds in the sky. Looking through the windows of your rooms, or the common areas, it promises to be a pretty fine day to be outdoors.

If you’ve read the notice on the bulletin board in the last two days, or talked to Chrysos, one way or another you might be one of those gathering by the broken stone of the 4th floor fountain at this time.

Chrysos himself is there before the first of you arrive, sitting on the edge of the fountain with his spear leaning against one shoulder, his metal arm draped around the shaft. He eyes you as you approach, expression unreadable.

There’s a small array of objects lined up on the stone beside him:

- coils of thin rope, surprisingly tough when tested, despite their appearance
- a mix of small torchlights
- simple compasses
- tubes of signal flares
- canvas pouches, easily strapped to a belt, each containing basic first aid supplies - rolls of gauze, ointment, sutures
- another set of pouches, these with dried meat and some hard breadlike rations
- several mysterious devices that look like they would go easily around a wrist

“Take what you think you need." Quiet, but clear. He gestures at the wrist devices. “Apart from these, there should be enough of the others for everyone." ]

[ a gunshot impacts the beak of one of the birds not being covered by the shields. ]

[ the bird shot at squawks as its beak shatters, and it looks around wildly in its spasming 8(;;;

there are MORE birds flapping angrily and advancing, though they seem to be not as aggressively pursuing now-- wary of the flaming shields, they nevertheless hold their ground in the way you came from, growling and hissing and threatening pain.

the walkie-talkie on Tokiomi's wrist crackles with a burst of static. ]

[well now that there is someone basically holding the birds off Dave is gonna flap up to look for a way to maybe get the fuck out of bird territory

[Jerks, full-body, at the gunshot, her head swivelling about to the struck bird, and then back to the rest of the group. Ohhh, this is no good. Slowly backing away from the advancing birds]

What was... [That crackly message, she means, but trails off.]

Away from the nests, we need to get away from their territory so that Nova can let up.

[well that gunshot was sudden, but then there's the crackly noise...]

Give me one moment. Someone's trying to contact us.

[ holding out his staff with one hand -- the jewel glows faintly, prepared to augment the release of flames if something comes close to him

in the meantime, he's going to talk back to the walkie-talkie. ]

[ Dave may find a winding path of treeroad heading to the south and away from the advancing birds, partly obscured by vines hanging and coiled like snakes.... though as for where it goes, exactly, it's hard to tell while you're still below the canopy.

And you're pretty far below the canopy-- you can actually glimpse the water below, several dozen feet below, from time to time. ]

[Gives Dave a vaguely... nonplussed look before the second gunshot has her hurrying in the direction he'd indicated. She sticks close to Tokiomi, eyeing up that walkie-talkie on his wrist. Whaaat...]

[ not the most athletic, but he'll take a decent speed in following that direction ]

I would assume someone else with one of these.

[ holding up his wrist to show the walkie-talkie! ]

It's a simple enough device.

[keeping to the rear of the group, maintaining the shields for as long as it seems like the birds might follow]

Okay, seriously. Who the fuck has the gun?

[ the birds, in various stages of injury (yet eeriely silent for it, the wounded), continue to bristle and stare at your party, and stalk after it... but don't follow past the vines. They stand and watch as you retreat, the clamor dying down, and eventually they disappear out of sight.

the jungle surrounds you again, with its usual sound... what will you do now? ]

[Looking back every now and again to keep an eye on Nova... As the birds hang back, she lets out a sigh of relief, nursing her side. Those birds kick hard.]

I think there may be someone else with us, Nova.

[To Tokiomi:] So we'll be able to communicate with one another like this?

[hydralize]

[heaves out a sigh and dispells the flames on his shields, settling them back into his bracer again. He's keeping quiet now while Lenalee and Tokiomi get a handle on communication though]

there are however some very nice orange pitcher-like flower plants dangling from a few of the branches, some with what looks like water pooling in them. ]
