For those of you who have never participated in a dream post, everyone interested in running a character's dream posts a top level comment and people comment to that to be in that character's dream. There are basically no rules about how it works! Be a lucid dreamer, don't be, figure it out halfway through, push and pull between who controls the dream. w/e have fun! If you need an OOC excuse to be asleep you can totally assume Rew's power just made your character unreasonably tired at some point. Solitary dreamers will find ocean waters rising in and drowning out their dreams, but Rew won't be making any appearances in this post.))

gosh, all those familiar faces in that group, though...

but since you're so focused in on Kiritsugu, it's obvious that he's controlling his breathing which is tired and ragged, a struggle to keep himself still. it actually takes him a moment to realize someone besides Yukari is even talking to him]

[just. very gently trying to pick dad up enough to hold him and examine him for wounds and whatnot.]

Dad, it's okay. It'll be okay. It's me...

[any kind of movement makes him grimace and flinch, the threads tied to him digging in deeper on him, as well as the others. but it does prompt him to raise his hands to grasp at her arms]

Shirou...

[WOW OKAY NOT MOVING HIM. wincing and petting his cheek sympathetically.]

Dad. What's happened to you? What is this place?

[sure is a lot of blood on those threads...

but it's already difficult focusing, so mostly just keeping his eyes on Shirou's face, quietly murmuring:]

[so if you've ever seen what happens when you rip a wire away from where it's wrapped around flesh, that's pretty much what Kiritsugu experiences. more blood and pain.

--meanwhile, some people behind you just kind of keeled over dead. man, their heads may have even come off as the threads tighten their hold.

and Kiritsugu's hands are tight on her arms, restricting her movement more as he cries out in pain and grief and WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!]

[she doesn't spare a glance for the people dying behind her. a lot more concerned right now about kiritsugu, and how badly hurt he is. blood she expected, and pain, but her main concern is the damage done. if she gets rid of the strings she can take him away and get him help, right?]

Dad, you have to get out of here. Let go. I have to get you out, okay?

[nope, not letting go, even though it's pretty obvious that he's not coping with the pain well, breathing harsh and eyes tightly shut]

understandably, this is the point where Kiritsugu will try even grabbing the sword by the blade, heedless of how the lingering threads dig in.

after all, the only ones left are Irisviel, Ilyasviel, and the Shirou he knew before]

[more specifically: behind you where there are bodies and blood... of. pretty much everyone Kiritsugu's ever cared about. except for those three.]

[she turns, finally, and sees the dead. staring for a long time - she doesn't seem to have much expression.

quietly:]

... If I just unwound them...?

[doesn't have an answer for that. clearly hasn't even thought to try.]

[... okay, let's give this a try.

very. carefully. keeping a close eye on ilya especially.]

[if you mean the ends tied to Kiritsugu, it sure takes a lot off effort to dig them out of the wounds they've dug into his flesh, but once you manage that, unwinding the threads one at a time may just be possible.

Kiritsugu grimaces the entire time, pale and shaken]

[... okay. okay. she makes some soothing noises but keeps going - as painful as this is, she's certain that it's better to remove these threads, or at least loosen them so that they aren't digging into him so badly. this time she's going very slowly, though, and is watching Ilya and Iri, looking for any signs of change. Are their threads getting tighter...?]

[they seem to remain where they are.

if she continues to unwind the strings, she'll actually start to see that it's one thread. only a bit more to remove...]
