Who: You =D
When: Day 114, Evening and alll night long~
Where: In ur dreams
What: Dream post!

[Maybe you have gotten used to the regular hum of the HQ's engines as it flies slowly over a rippling canopy. Maybe you even find their sound soothing as you drift off tonight... Or maybe you don't drift off at all, maybe wherever you are, whatever you were doing, you just find yourself inexplicably sleepy.

Whatever it is, you end up in dreams. Your dreams? Or someone else's? It's hard to say.]

((OOC: DREAM POST!

For those of you who have never participated in a dream post, everyone interested in running a character's dream posts a top level comment and people comment to that to be in that character's dream. There are basically no rules about how it works! Be a lucid dreamer, don't be, figure it out halfway through, push and pull between who controls the dream. w/e have fun! If you need an OOC excuse to be asleep you can totally assume Rew's power just made your character unreasonably tired at some point. Solitary dreamers will find ocean waters rising in and drowning out their dreams, but Rew won't be making any appearances in this post.))

[ There's only one way to describe the place you appear to be right now: eerie. A fog-filled area with a scattering of barren trees and black, shadowy figures standing all around. The shapes look to be vaguely humanoid, but there are no outstanding features. Just silhouettes.

Take a moment to listen and the faint, buzzing hum you thought you were hearing turns out to be voices. One after the other, muttering in a dream-like tone that makes you feel oddly on edge.

Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong...

Does this unit have a soul?

Shepard...

Shepard...

[Oh.

This dream is familiar. Except for once he seems to be aware that it's a dream, but it's no less disturbing. Upsetting. Something seems off, though.

He'll just start walking. Usually the quickest way to wake up. Just walking. All the while trying to put those voices to the back of his mind.]

[ No matter how far you walk, how fast you move, the same landscape just stretches on. And the figures are always there, it's as if you're walking in circles. Though you're moving at a regular pace, you can feel the push against you, like you're chest-deep in water.

You may notice in the array of voices that there is at least one missing. One that usually haunts you while you sleep.

But perhaps that thought is pushed from your mind when you hear the all too familiar sound of sobbing. A child sobbing. Sure enough, there he is, illuminated where he's crouched on the ground just a little further ahead. ]

[The child sobbing definitely draws all his thoughts to a standstill, and he instinctively tries to push passed the force that's keeping him from moving faster, in order to reach the child that's crouched on the ground.]

[ It's pretty much the same song-and-dance you've been through many times before. Just with added awareness that, yes. This is a dream. That is, until you actually approach the child.

He doesn't run. Not this time. Any attempt to place a hand on his shoulder or to give him a reassuring pat on the top of his little head, however, will fail. Your hand will just pass right on through like the kid's some kind of realistic-looking hologram, complete with a flicker of interference.

There's a few moments until the child looks up and around, turning at the muffled sound of approaching footsteps. It's as if you don't exist, as if he's looking straight through you.

The footsteps are slow, heavy. Coming from behind you. They get close, just a few feet behind, and that is when the child does something all too familiar; scrambles to his feet and flees out into the seemingly infinite forest. ]

[Being aware of the dream made him think a little differently, which was odd. He almost reached for the kid out of instinct but stopped midway when he heard the footsteps. At first he dismissed it as just the dream messing with him, but when the child gets up and runs, Chris spins around to see who was behind him.]

[ She looks as about surprised to see him as he might be to see her: very. Kitted out in her armor, save the helmet, her eyes widen as she sees him and her mouth opens to say his name, but no noise comes out. Or he can't hear her say it.

Though he's lucid and aware this is all a dream, she isn't. After getting over the initial shock, her expression changes from one of surprise to worry again as she pushes on, moving slowly onward.

There's only one objective: get the kid. Make sure he's safe. That's all she needs to do. ]
